Becoming a Recreation Soccer Coach

MUSC Recreation Coaches and Assistant Coaches are required to complete the following before conducting a practice or coaching a game:

1. Application as a volunteer coach using the link to the right and succesfully complete a background check.

Each MUSC program has a "coaching" applicationassociated with it. All coaches MUST register with each program they wish to coach. Registration is required to ensure coach's information is available to the club and players, and to ensure coaches and players are covered by Morris United Soccer Club's insurance

2. Center for Disease Control and Prevention Heads Up to Youth Sports Online Concussion Training.

Each MUSC coach must hold a certificate showing they have completed the Center for Disease Control (CDC) HEADS UP to Youth Sports Online Concussion Awareness course. This course may be accessed online at:

Once completed, the course completion certificate should be uploaded to the Coach's Stack Sports account

3. US Center for SafeSport Training certificate.

Beginning with the 2019-2020 youth soccer season, all volunteers with the Morris United Soccer Club must complete the US Center for SafeSport online abuse prevention training which covers: sexual abuse, hazing, bullying, emotional misconduct, physical harassment and reporting obligations. There are three modules required to become "SafeSport Trained":

a) Mandatory Reporting: Understanding Your Responsibilities;
b) Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education; and
c) Emotional and Physical Misconduct.

All three modules must be completed to receive your "SafeSport Trained" certificate.

The completed Safe Sport training certificate needs to be uploaded to the Coach's Stack Sports Account.

In addition to the above requirements, it is recommended, but not required, that every recreation coach complete his / her NJYS Youth State Coaching Certificate or a NJYS "Y" Course. The registration fee for these courses will be reimbursed by MUSC.
